*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Hamburg, Germany is a maritime city nestled around the Elbe River. The Elbe River makes for an interesting study in terms of its water temperature, as it fluctuates throughout the year, largely influenced by the changing seasons and climatic conditions. During the winter months (December to March), the water temperature tends to stay bitterly cold, usually hovering around 4-5°C. Contrastingly, in the summer months (June to August), it has been known to rise to around 20°C, depending on the air temperature and sunlight exposure.
As for swimming in the Elbe River, it is technically possible; however, precaution needs to be taken. The river doesn't only serve recreational purposes but also plays a significant role in commercial shipping. Therefore it has heavy traffic which may pose risks for swimmers. Importantly, the water quality of the Elbe has been cause for concern due to historic and ongoing industrial pollution, which might make it less suitable for swimming. Despite these factors, there have certainly been instances of people taking a dip, especially during the warmer months when the temperatures are more agreeable. It would nevertheless be important to heed any local laws or advisories in place regarding swimming. It would be ideal to swim in specific permissible areas where lifeguards or safety measures can be assured.
