Dortmund, located in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, is a bustling city developed along the banks of the Emscher River. The Emscher River has had a dynamic and complex history, especially regarding its water quality and temperature. The river, which was previously used for dumping industrial waste, has gone through various cleanup programs. However, the water temperature of the Emscher River can vary greatly throughout the year, especially with fluctuating climate conditions. Typical temperatures usually range between 4°C during the winter months up to 20-22°C in the peak of summer.
As for swimming, it's not typically recommended to swim in the Emscher River.
