Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

The Vidourle River flows through the Gard and Hérault departments in southern France, passing by picturesque towns and landscapes before reaching the Mediterranean. Known for its seasonal variations, the Vidourle can experience substantial changes in water flow, particularly during autumn rains, leading to occasional flooding events. In summer, the river becomes a popular spot for swimming, as water temperatures typically rise to around 20-24°C (68-75°F), making it comfortable for a refreshing dip.
Swimming along the Vidourle is especially popular near towns like Sommières, where calmer pools and shallow areas make it family-friendly. There are also scenic spots near the Pont Ambroix, an ancient Roman bridge, where swimmers can enjoy both the historical setting and the river’s gentle flow. Caution is advised during periods of heavy rain, as the Vidourle’s water level can rise suddenly, causing stronger currents. Outside of flood-prone times, however, it offers a safe and inviting environment for recreational swimming.
