Simav Çayı, a river in the Kütahya region of western Turkey, exhibits marked seasonal variation in water temperature driven by rainfall, snowmelt and regional climate. In winter (December–February) the river is typically cold, often around 2–8 °C (36–46 °F). Spring (March–May) warms to roughly 8–15 °C (46–59 °F) as snowmelt and higher flows moderate temperature. Peak warmth occurs in summer (June–August), when calmer sections can reach about 18–25 °C (64–77 °F), and early autumn (September–November) generally cools back to roughly 10–16 °C (50–61 °F). Local factors such as shaded valleys, cold springs, or releases from upstream storage can shift these ranges locally and temporarily.
Swimming in Simav Çayı is possible in sheltered, slow-flowing stretches during warm months, and many locals swim there in summer when temperatures are most comfortable.
