*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

The River Medway in Kent, South East England, offers a temperate river environment, with its water temperature fluctuating seasonally. During the colder winter months, from approximately December to February, the average temperature typically drops to lows of about 6∘C to 8∘C (43∘F to 46∘F). By contrast, summer can see the water warm up significantly, reaching mean highs of 16∘C to 18∘C (61∘F to 64∘F) during July and August, offering the most comfortable conditions for water-based activities.
Swimming in the River Medway is generally not permitted and is discouraged by authorities due to various safety hazards. The water poses risks from strong currents, particularly near locks, weirs, and sluices, which can create dangerous undertows and eddies. Additionally, even in summer, the water retains the risk of cold water shock, and there is also a risk of poor water quality and unseen underwater debris. Visitors often enjoy alternative attractions nearby, such as the spectacular Leeds Castle, the historic dockyard at Chatham, and the charming Rochester Castle and Cathedral.
