Location & Local Information
The Lopan River, flowing through Kharkiv region, tends to have cool to moderately warm water in summer. In calm, shallow bends and areas with good sun exposure during the peak of summer (July–August), the surface temperature might warm up to around 20-24 °C. However, in deeper pools, under shade, or where the flow is stronger, the temperature likely remains lower — perhaps around 16-19 °C. Early in summer (late spring or early June), water temperatures are generally cooler, often uncomfortable for long swimming.
As for swimming opportunities, Lopan may be suitable for short dips in certain places: gentle banks, shallow edges, slower currents, and spots where access is easy. But it's not known as a major bathing river, so infrastructure (like official beaches, lifeguards, or consistently maintained water quality) is likely limited.
