*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

The Loisach River flows through both Austria and Germany, originating in the Tyrol Alps in Austria and flowing into the Bavarian region of Germany. Due to its alpine source, the river maintains a relatively cold water temperature year-round, with typical summer temperatures ranging from 8°C to 16°C (46°F to 61°F). While the water is refreshing for short dips, it is often too cold for extended swimming, particularly in the upper sections where the flow is faster and the water is colder. The temperature may rise slightly in the lower stretches as the river flows through more populated areas, but it still remains cooler compared to many other rivers.
Swimming in the Loisach is possible, especially in the calmer, lower sections of the river near the town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen and other areas in Bavaria. These parts of the river have designated swimming spots and beaches where locals and visitors enjoy swimming during the warmer months. However, swimmers should still be cautious of the river's strong currents, especially after rainfall, as the water can become faster and more dangerous. While the Loisach is suitable for recreational swimming in certain areas, its colder water and swift currents in some sections may make it less ideal for long swimming sessions. For a safer and warmer swimming experience, nearby lakes or public pools are often a better option.
