** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

The Lech River flows through both Austria and Germany, originating in the Tyrol region of Austria and passing through the Bavarian Alps in Germany. Known for its clear and fast-flowing waters, the river maintains a cold temperature year-round, especially in its upper stretches where the water is fed by glacial melt and mountain runoff. In the summer, the water temperature typically ranges from 6°C to 14°C (43°F to 57°F). While this temperature can feel refreshing for short dips, it is generally too cold for extended swimming. In lower sections, particularly as the river flows through more populated areas in Germany, the temperature may rise slightly but still remains relatively cool compared to many lakes or other rivers in warmer regions.
Swimming in the Lech is possible, but it is often best suited for those who enjoy cooler water temperatures. In some of the calmer and slower-flowing sections of the river, particularly near the towns of Füssen and Reutte, swimming can be more comfortable. However, the river's fast currents, especially in its upper reaches, make it less ideal for swimming in many areas. It’s important to note that swimming in the Lech can be dangerous due to its fast-moving waters and strong currents, especially after heavy rains. For a safer and warmer experience, it’s recommended to swim in designated areas or to visit nearby lakes and public pools.
