The Korana River, which flows through both Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, is a picturesque river that originates from the Plitvice Lakes. Its source from a pristine karst environment and its flow through travertine barriers mean the water remains consistently fresh and cool. In winter, the Korana is cold, with temperatures typically ranging from 8∘C to 12∘C. During the peak summer season, the temperature of the middle and lower parts of the river, especially around locations like Karlovac and Slunj (Rastoke), warms up, commonly reaching comfortable swimming temperatures between 23∘C and 25∘C.
