** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

The Río Jiloca, an inland river flowing through the provinces of Teruel and Zaragoza in Aragón, shows clear seasonal variation in water temperature due to its continental climate and variable discharge. In winter the river is cold, commonly around 4–8 °C (39–46 °F), while spring temperatures rise to roughly 8–14 °C (46–57 °F) as snowmelt and rainfall increase flow. Summer brings the warmest conditions, with surface temperatures typically between 16–22 °C (61–72 °F) in calmer stretches, though shallow, slow-moving pools can warm slightly more on hot days. Autumn sees a gradual cooling back toward 10–16 °C (50–61 °F) as daylight shortens and precipitation patterns change.
Swimming in the Río Jiloca is possible in many local spots, especially in summer when temperatures are most comfortable, but it is not uniformly regulated as a series of official bathing areas. Whether swimming is allowed depends on municipal rules, water quality at the time, and safety considerations: sections with strong currents, sudden depth changes, submerged obstacles, or low water quality should be avoided. Furthermore, even in summer the river can feel considerably colder than coastal waters and poses a risk of cold shock in spring or after heavy rains. Visitors should follow local signage, check recent water-quality information, and exercise caution when entering the river.
