** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

The Eurotas (Ευρώτας) is the main river of Laconia in the Peloponnese. Water temperatures vary markedly with the seasons. In winter the surface temperature commonly ranges from about 8–12 °C (46–54 °F), rising in spring to roughly 12–18 °C (54–64 °F). By summer, especially in low-flow years, river water can warm to approximately 18–26 °C (64–79 °F) in shallower reaches, while autumn values typically fall back to the 14–20 °C (57–68 °F) band. Local conditions such as flow rate, shading, and groundwater inputs produce shorter-term variations: shaded, spring-fed pools remain cooler, while sun-exposed shallow stretches heat up quickly on hot days.
Swimming in the Eurotas is possible in parts of the river, but it is not universally promoted or managed as a public bathing site. Sections upstream or near natural springs can offer acceptable water quality and calmer conditions, whereas downstream stretches close to agricultural areas and urban centers may suffer from runoff or reduced flow that make swimming less advisable. Seasonal floods can create strong currents in winter and spring, and low summer flows can expose hazards on the riverbed. Visitors should check local notices, observe water clarity and flow, and follow any advisories before entering the river.
