*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

The Río Andarax, which descends from the Sierra Nevada toward the Mediterranean in Almería, carries relatively cool water for most of the year. Typical winter temperatures in the river and its mountain-fed tributaries are around 6–10 °C (43–50 °F), while spring waters usually sit between 10–16 °C (50–61 °F) as snowmelt and higher flows keep temperatures down. In summer, shallow pools and isolated stretches that receive long sun exposure can warm more, often ranging roughly 18–24 °C (64–75 °F), though faster-flowing reaches remain cooler, around 16–22 °C (61–72 °F). Autumn temperatures commonly fall back to about 12–18 °C (54–64 °F) as flows increase and ambient air cools.
Swimming in the Río Andarax is possible in certain spots, such as calm pools or managed reservoirs, but it is not uniformly promoted as a formal bathing destination. Local conditions—flow rate, currents, submerged rocks, water quality and occasional low summer flows that can cause stagnation—determine safety and suitability. There are few official beaches along the river itself, so authorities’ signs and local guidance should be checked before entering the water. In short, recreational swimming can be enjoyed in selected sections, but visitors should assess temperature, depth and hygiene on site.
