Ross Barnett Reservoir, near Jackson, Mississippi, experiences noticeable seasonal swings in surface water temperature. In winter months surface readings commonly fall into the 40–55°F (4–13°C) range, spring typically warms from about 50–70°F (10–21°C), summer heat often pushes surface temperatures into the 75–90°F (24–32°C) range, and fall sees a gradual decline back toward 60–75°F (16–24°C).
