*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Meredith, a reservoir in the Texas Panhandle, experiences pronounced seasonal swings in surface water temperature. In summer months surface readings commonly range from about 75 to 90°F (24 to 32°C), with the warmest conditions occurring July–August. During spring and fall the water typically cools to roughly 50 to 75°F (10 to 24°C), producing more variable swimming comfort. In winter the surface often falls into the mid-30s to about 50°F (2 to 10°C), and cold snaps can push temperatures lower. These figures are approximate and can shift with local weather patterns, wind, inflow and lake level changes, so any given day’s water temperature may differ from seasonal averages.
Swimming at Lake Meredith is generally permitted because much of the shoreline and water surface are managed for public recreation, including boating, fishing and beach use. There are, however, practical and safety considerations: most areas lack lifeguards, water levels and currents near structures or inlets can be unpredictable, and occasional advisories for water quality or hazardous conditions may temporarily restrict swimming. Visitors are advised to verify current conditions and follow posted guidance, exercise caution in cold water to avoid shock or hypothermia, and use personal flotation devices where appropriate.
