Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
ake Inari, located in northern Lapland near the town of Inari, is Finland’s third-largest lake and one of the most pristine freshwater bodies in Europe. Surrounded by forested islands and rocky shores, it remains cold for most of the year due to its Arctic location and great depth. In spring, after the ice melts in late May or early June, the surface temperature is around 2–5 °C (36–41 °F). During early summer, it gradually warms to 10–14 °C (50–57 °F), and in July, the warmest month, the lake typically reaches 15–18 °C (59–64 °F). In shallow bays during heatwaves, water can briefly rise to 19–20 °C (66–68 °F). By September, the temperature falls below 10 °C (50 °F), and the lake begins to freeze again by November.
Swimming in Lake Inari is allowed and possible during the short Arctic summer, though the water remains cool even in July. The lake’s exceptionally clean and clear water attracts those who appreciate pure, natural swimming conditions. Local residents and visitors sometimes swim near harbors and small sandy shores, enjoying the refreshing water and vast scenery. While not suited for long swims, a quick dip in Inari offers a unique and invigorating Lapland experience.
