* Current - Actual water temperature value
** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Hazar Gölü (Lake Hazar) in Elazığ is a deep tectonic lake whose surface water temperatures vary markedly through the year. In spring the surface commonly ranges from about 8–15 °C (46–59 °F) as snowmelt and cool air still influence the basin. Summer brings the warmest conditions, with typical surface readings around 18–25 °C (64–77 °F) on sunny days, though deeper water remains much colder. In autumn temperatures fall back to roughly 10–18 °C (50–64 °F) and in winter the surface can approach freezing, roughly 0–5 °C (32–41 °F), with occasional ice or near-ice conditions in severe cold. Local variations occur with wind, depth, and seasonal runoff, so measured temperatures at swimming spots can differ from broader averages.
Swimming in Hazar Gölü is generally possible and commonly done during the warm months because surface waters reach comfortable levels in summer. However, access and safety depend on location: the lake’s depth, steep drop-offs, and cold subsurface layers make caution important, and there are sections where bathing is discouraged or controlled for water quality and conservation reasons. Visitors should heed local signs and seasonal advisories, enter gradually to adjust to temperature, and avoid swimming alone or in poorly supervised areas.
