*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lac d'Allos is a stunning alpine lake located in the southern French Alps, within the Mercantour National Park in the Alpes-Maritimes department. It is one of the highest lakes in Europe, situated at an altitude of 2,228 meters (7,310 feet). Due to its high-altitude location, the water temperature of Lac d'Allos remains quite cool throughout the year. During the summer months, the water temperature typically ranges from 10°C to 15°C (50°F to 59°F), making it refreshing but relatively chilly for swimming. It is most comfortable for a quick dip during the warmer months, though some brave swimmers may enjoy the challenge of taking a dip in its cold waters.
While Lac d'Allos is a popular spot for hiking, wildlife watching, and photography, swimming is allowed but not as common due to the lake's cold temperatures and the rugged environment. The lake's surroundings are beautiful and pristine, with clear turquoise waters that are perfect for admiring from the shore. The area around the lake is often used for various outdoor activities, including kayaking and fishing, but because of its high elevation, it is recommended to swim only during the warmest part of the summer. Visitors should also be cautious of the terrain, as the lake is surrounded by rocky areas that can make access a bit tricky.
