** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Juno Lake in Michigan typically follows the pattern of many small inland lakes in the region, with water temperatures that fluctuate markedly through the year. In early spring the surface often sits between about 40–55°F (4–13°C) as ice melts and the lake mixes; by late spring and early summer temperatures commonly rise to roughly 60–70°F (15–21°C). Peak summer surface readings can reach the mid-60s to mid-70s °F (18–24°C) in open water, with shallow bays occasionally warming to the upper 70s °F (around 25–26°C) on hot, calm days. In autumn the surface cools back through the 50s to 40s °F (10–4°C) as the lake destratifies, and in winter the lake often approaches freezing near 32°F (0°C) and may ice over depending on local weather.
Swimming at Juno Lake is commonly done in the warmer months when surface temperatures are comfortable, provided there is public access and no posted health or safety advisories. Local rules, water quality (including algal blooms), clarity, underwater hazards and sudden temperature layering can affect safety, and colder water even in summer can cause shock. In winter, swimming is generally not feasible because of ice and near-freezing water. It’s advisable to confirm current conditions and any regulations with local authorities before entering the water.
