❌ As of today, the minimum water temperature ranges from 47°F (8°C) to 50°F (10°C). This is still cool water, suitable only for experienced swimmers or those accustomed to cold water. Swimming in such conditions is possible, but not recommended for prolonged periods. Extra caution should be taken during extended exposure, as the cold water can cause heat loss and lead to hypothermia. For added comfort, special clothing can be used. It is important to note that these swimming tips and recommendations apply only in good weather. When the air temperature is below 68°F (20°C), and sometimes even below 77°F (25°C), swimming can be unpleasant even with relatively high water temperatures.

*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Ibón de Plan is a high mountain lake in the Aragonese Pyrenees whose water remains cold for most of the year. Surface temperatures in summer typically range from about 8–15 °C (46–59 °F) on warm afternoons, while spring and autumn temperatures commonly sit between near freezing and 8 °C (32–46 °F) as snowmelt and cool nights dominate. In winter the basin often freezes or the water stays at or very near 0 °C (32 °F), so open liquid water is rare until the thaw. Temperature can vary with depth, weather, and seasonal snowmelt, so even on warmer days subsurface water remains noticeably colder.
Swimming at Ibón de Plan is physically possible in the warmer weeks but is limited by safety and conservation considerations. There are generally no lifeguards, amenities, or warming facilities, and the persistently low temperatures increase the risk of cold shock and hypothermia; for these reasons many visitors choose to avoid prolonged immersion. Additionally, mountain ibones are ecologically sensitive, and local rules or land managers may discourage or restrict bathing to protect water quality and wildlife. If one decides to swim, it should be brief, cautious, and ideally done when air and surface temperatures are at their peak in summer.
