Sivas (Turkish: Sivas) sits in central Anatolia and is surrounded by several small lakes and reservoirs, the best known near the city being Hafik Lake. Water temperatures in these shallow inland waters vary strongly by season. In winter the surface typically hovers near freezing, roughly 0–4 °C (32–39 °F).
