** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Diyarbakır (Turkish: Diyarbakır) lies on the Tigris and is surrounded by reservoirs and backwaters rather than large natural lakes; the most commonly visited bodies of water near the city are the Dicle (Tigris) river stretches and nearby dam reservoirs. Water temperatures in these inland waters vary by season: in winter surface temperatures typically sit around 4–8 °C (39–46 °F), in spring they climb to roughly 8–18 °C (46–64 °F), summer commonly warms the shallows to about 20–26 °C (68–79 °F), and autumn brings cooling to approximately 12–20 °C (54–68 °F). These ranges are approximate and can shift with weather patterns, depth and local inflows.
Swimming opportunities are therefore seasonal and conditional. Recreational swimming is mostly practical and comfortable in the warmest weeks of summer when surface temperatures approach the high teens to mid‑twenties Celsius, but in colder months the risk of cold shock and hypothermia makes swimming inadvisable. Moreover, many reservoir and river locations have official restrictions or lack lifeguards; dam reservoirs in particular may be closed for safety because of currents, sudden releases, underwater hazards and variable water quality. Local authorities and posted signs determine whether swimming is allowed at specific sites, so checking conditions and permissions before entering the water is important.
