This water temperature is still quite low, and swimming in such conditions may only be comfortable for hardened individuals. It is recommended to limit the time spent in the water to avoid hypothermia. For those not accustomed to cold water, it is better to refrain from swimming. However, if you decide to enter the water, it is advisable to wear a warm wetsuit for protection against the cold. *** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Avesta, in Dalarna County, is dominated by the Dalälven river and a number of smaller lakes and bays. Seasonal water temperatures in these inland waters vary considerably: in spring (April–May) surface temperatures are typically low, around 2–10 °C (36–50 °F), while summer (June–August) brings the warmest conditions with many sheltered bays and shallow lakes reaching about 15–22 °C (59–72 °F), occasionally slightly warmer in late July. In autumn (September–October) waters cool to roughly 6–14 °C (43–57 °F). Winters (November–March) see temperatures near freezing, commonly 0–4 °C (32–39 °F), and many lakes and slower river stretches develop stable ice cover.
Swimming in lakes and calmer parts of the river is generally allowed and popular in summer at public beaches and informal shorelines, but conditions depend on local access and safety. Rivers can be noticeably colder and carry stronger currents than lakes, so caution is advised; municipal bathing sites are monitored for water quality during the season. Ice swimming is practiced by some during winter but requires proper preparation, safety measures and local knowledge. Restrictions or temporary closures can occur if water quality is poor, if there is hazardous ice, or where private property or boating traffic limit safe access.
