La Manga del Mar Menor is a narrow strip of land in the Murcia region separating the Mediterranean Sea from the shallow Mar Menor lagoon, creating two distinct bathing environments with different thermal behaviour. Seasonal sea temperatures on the Mediterranean side typically range from about 13–15 °C in the coldest months to roughly 22–27 °C in mid‑summer, with warmest values often seen in July and August. The Mar Menor, being much shallower and more sheltered, warms more quickly and stays warmer longer, with winter values commonly around 14–16 °C and summer peaks of about 24–30 °C.
