*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
In Piešťany, the river Váh is a significant part of the landscape, flowing alongside the famous Spa Island and forming the Sĺňava water reservoir just south of the city. As a major central European river, its temperature varies widely throughout the year. In the summer months, particularly in July and August, the water temperature of the Váh in the Piešťany area, especially in the larger, more stagnant body of the Sĺňava reservoir, can rise to pleasant bathing levels, often reaching 22−25∘C on the warmest days. This is the only period when the water is genuinely warm enough for extended, comfortable recreational use by the general public. Outside of this peak summer period, the water remains notably cooler.
While the Váh itself is a dominant feature, direct swimming in the main river channel or unregulated spots near Piešťany is generally not recommended due to safety concerns regarding strong currents and the nature of the riverbed. Instead, most aquatic recreation is focused on the Sĺňava reservoir, where boating, paddleboarding, and designated areas around the reservoir's banks offer safer access. Furthermore, Piešťany is famous for its thermal springs and medicinal mud, with several dedicated facilities like the Kúpalisko Eva offering thermal pools with much higher, controlled temperatures, often around 27−38∘C. Thus, for a pleasant and therapeutic swim, the thermal and reservoir facilities are the popular choice over the main river.
