** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
The city of Kolárovo in southern Slovakia is situated near the confluence of the Váh and Malý Dunaj (Little Danube) rivers, with the Váh being a major artery. The river Váh in this lower section is a large, regulated lowland river, which means its flow and temperature are monitored but still subject to natural factors. During the summer months, the water temperature can become relatively mild, often peaking in the range of 20−23∘C in late July and August, which is generally acceptable for bathing. However, outside of this peak period, the water temperature quickly drops, especially due to the river’s volume, making swimming quite cold.
Regarding swimming opportunities directly in the Váh at Kolárovo, it is generally discouraged, as is common with many large European rivers. The main concerns are the strong, often unpredictable currents, and the presence of hidden underwater obstacles and debris. While the river itself is an attractive feature, and water quality is generally decent, it is not an officially designated bathing area. For safe and comfortable swimming, locals typically turn to nearby gravel pits or lido pools. The Váh near Kolárovo is, however, highly popular for fishing and for boating activities, where the temperature conditions are less critical than for recreational swimming.
