*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Melhus (in Norwegian - Melhus) lies in Trøndelag County where local lakes follow the region’s seasonal patterns. In spring surface temperatures usually rise from near freezing up to about 8–10 °C (32–50 °F) as snowmelt and cool rains dominate. In summer the water commonly warms to roughly 15–22 °C (59–72 °F), with the warmest shallow bays occasionally reaching 23 °C (73 °F) during extended heat. Into autumn temperatures decline from around 10–15 °C (50–59 °F) in September to single digits by October, and in winter most lakes cool to just above freezing or freeze over, with under‑ice water temperatures near 0–4 °C (32–39 °F).
Swimming in Melhus is generally permitted and popular in the warmer months because of Norway’s public right of access and numerous informal bathing spots. Many municipal beaches and lake shores are used for recreation, and some are monitored for water quality during the bathing season. Caution is advised because temperature and conditions change quickly: cold spring and late‑autumn water can present hypothermia risk, underwater hazards and variable depth are common, and ice swimming requires proper precautions. Visitors should check local guidance and weather before entering the water to ensure a safe swim.
