*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Kalamata (Greek: Καλαμάτα) is a coastal city in the Peloponnese rather than a lakeside town, so most bathing takes place in the Gulf of Messenia rather than in a large inland lake. Sea-surface temperatures off Kalamata follow a typical Mediterranean pattern: winter months (December–February) usually see 14–17 °C (57–63 °F), spring (March–May) 15–20 °C (59–68 °F) as waters gradually warm, summer (June–August) peaks around 22–27 °C (72–81 °F), and autumn (September–November) cools to roughly 19–24 °C (66–75 °F). Smaller inland ponds or seasonal pools in the surrounding hills can be much colder and variable, but they are not the main venue for regular swimming.
Swimming in the coastal waters around Kalamata is widely allowed and popular during the warmer months because sea temperatures are comfortable and local beaches meet bathing-water quality standards most of the year. Officially managed beaches often have lifeguards and facilities in summer, but visitors should heed local signage and weather advisories: strong winds, sudden storms, heavy rain that can affect water quality, local currents, or protected areas can impose temporary restrictions. For safety and environmental reasons, always follow posted rules and seasonal guidance before entering the water.
