*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

The Torne River, known in Finnish as Tornionjoki, flows along the border between Finland and Sweden and is one of the largest free-flowing rivers in northern Europe. Originating in the mountains of Lapland and emptying into the Bothnian Bay, it remains cold for much of the year due to its Arctic location and glacial waters. In spring, after the ice melts in May, the water temperature is typically around 3–6 °C (37–43 °F). During early summer, it rises to 10–14 °C (50–57 °F), and in July, at the warmest period, the surface temperature may reach 16–19 °C (61–66 °F). On exceptionally warm days, sheltered spots can briefly warm to about 20 °C (68 °F). By September, the water cools below 10 °C again, and the river starts to freeze in November.
Swimming in the Torne River is allowed and possible in summer, though the current can be strong in some areas. The water is exceptionally clear and pure, attracting both locals and visitors during the warmest weeks of the year. Many people take quick dips rather than long swims because of the cold, but the experience is refreshing and invigorating. The river’s natural beauty, surrounded by forests and open valleys, adds to the sense of peacefulness and connection with Lapland’s wilderness.
