** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

The Tirso is the longest river in Sardinia, flowing from the island’s central highlands to the Gulf of Oristano and passing through the artificial Lake Omodeo. Water temperatures vary with season and location: in winter the river commonly cools to around 6–12 °C (43–54 °F), influenced by rainfall and runoff; spring temperatures typically rise to roughly 10–18 °C (50–64 °F) as air temperatures climb; in summer slower stretches and the reservoir can warm to about 18–26 °C (64–79 °F), and in shallow, sun-exposed areas occasionally reach 26–28 °C (79–82 °F); autumn sees a gradual decline to roughly 12–20 °C (54–68 °F). Local conditions, depth and flow rate mean that specific spots can be markedly warmer or cooler than these averages.
Swimming in the Tirso and in Lake Omodeo is commonly practiced, but it is subject to local rules and safety considerations. Many open stretches and designated access points are used for bathing because the water is publicly accessible, yet swimming is restricted or dangerous near dams, intake structures and strong currents; water quality can also vary seasonally and algal blooms or upstream runoff may make some sites inadvisable. Visitors should follow posted signs, avoid hazardous areas around infrastructure, and be aware that colder seasonal temperatures make swimming uncomfortable or unsafe without appropriate precautions.
