*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

The River Wensum flows through the county of Norfolk in eastern England, winding from Fakenham to Norwich before joining the River Yare. As a chalk river fed by clear underground springs, it maintains relatively stable and cool water temperatures throughout the year. In winter, the river usually measures around 6–8 °C (43–46 °F), rising gradually to about 9–11 °C (48–52 °F) in spring. During the summer months, surface temperatures can reach 15–17 °C (59–63 °F) in calm or shallow areas, though shaded and faster-flowing sections remain cooler. By autumn, the water cools again toward 10–12 °C (50–54 °F), retaining the clarity and freshness typical of chalk streams.
Swimming in the River Wensum is allowed in some stretches, though much of it flows through protected conservation areas and private land. The clean, clear water appeals to experienced wild swimmers, particularly in quieter sections upstream from Norwich where access is easier and the current is gentle. Caution is advised, as some areas have deep pools or soft riverbeds. Wetsuits are recommended outside midsummer due to the consistently cool temperature. The river’s surroundings offer scenic walking and kayaking opportunities, with nearby attractions including Norwich Cathedral, Marriott’s Way Trail, and the Norfolk Broads National Park.
