** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

The Narva River (Estonian: Narva jõgi) shows marked seasonal differences in surface water temperature. During winter the river is often at or just above freezing, roughly 0–2 °C (32–35.6 °F), and sections can be ice-covered. Spring brings a gradual warming, typically about 1–10 °C (33.8–50 °F) as snowmelt and inflows raise levels and slow the warming rate. In summer the river can reach its warmest surface values, commonly in the range of 12–22 °C (53.6–71.6 °F) depending on local weather and flow, though sheltered or shallow spots may warm more. Autumn sees a steady cooling back toward 5–12 °C (41–53.6 °F) before winter freeze begins again.
Swimming in the Narva River is possible in some places, particularly near designated recreational spots, but it is not uniformly advisable everywhere. Safety concerns include strong currents, variable depths, nearby shipping and industrial activity, and areas restricted because the river forms an international border and passes hydroelectric installations. Water quality and conditions can vary with season and location, so local advisories, posted signs and known bathing areas should be checked before entering the water. Outside the warmest summer weeks, cold temperatures make prolonged swimming uncomfortable and increase the risk of cold-water shock.
