*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

The Malta River (Maltas upe) in Latvia is a small, slow-flowing watercourse whose temperature follows the typical seasonal pattern of temperate Baltic rivers. In winter the water is usually at or just above freezing, around 0 °C (32 °F), and stretches can be iced over; during the spring thaw temperatures commonly rise into the 2–10 °C (36–50 °F) range. Summer brings the warmest conditions: surface temperatures frequently sit between 15–22 °C (59–72 °F), with occasional heatwaves pushing local shallow areas toward 24–25 °C (75–77 °F). In autumn the river cools again to roughly 8–14 °C (46–57 °F). These figures are approximate and vary with weather, flow, shading and reservoir influences in the Malta Lake area.
Swimming in the Malta River is generally possible in summer where local conditions and signage permit, but it is not universally supervised. Designated recreational spots may be used for bathing when water quality is acceptable and access is safe; however, swimmers should be mindful of cooler temperatures outside peak season, hidden currents, submerged obstacles and the lack of lifeguards. In winter the frozen stretches make conventional swimming impractical, though some experienced people practice supervised ice swimming at specific sites. Always follow local advisories about water quality and safety before entering the river.
