*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Karasjohka is a northern Norwegian river in Finnmark County known for its clear, cold waters fed by snowmelt and upland streams. Seasonal surface temperatures are generally low: in late spring and early summer the river often measures around 0–8 °C (32–46 °F) as snowmelt keeps it chilly, while the warmest midsummer days can raise surface temperatures into roughly 8–14 °C (46–57 °F) in sheltered, slow-flowing sections. By autumn temperatures typically fall back to about 2–8 °C (36–46 °F), and in winter the river approaches freezing, around 0–2 °C (32–36 °F), with ice cover or very cold, fast-flowing open channels in many places.
Swimming in Karasjohka is physically possible in summer where access and calmer pools exist, but it is not like recreational bathing in milder climates. The low water temperatures, strong currents in many stretches, and the remoteness of large parts of the river increase the risk of cold shock and hypothermia. Local regulations normally do not ban swimming, but safety considerations mean that people should use wetsuits, choose sheltered spots, avoid strong currents, and seek local advice before entering the water. For most visitors, brief dips rather than prolonged swimming are the realistic option.
