Water Temperature: Daily Trends, Historical Records, and Forecast
❌ As of today, the minimum water temperature ranges from 47°F (8°C) to 50°F (10°C). This is still cool water, suitable only for experienced swimmers or those accustomed to cold water. Swimming in such conditions is possible, but not recommended for prolonged periods. Extra caution should be taken during extended exposure, as the cold water can cause heat loss and lead to hypothermia. For added comfort, special clothing can be used. It is important to note that these swimming tips and recommendations apply only in good weather. When the air temperature is below 68°F (20°C), and sometimes even below 77°F (25°C), swimming can be unpleasant even with relatively high water temperatures.

*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Gudbrandsdalslågen, the main river running through Innlandet County, has water temperatures that vary widely with the seasons because it is fed by snowmelt and mountain streams. In winter the river is near freezing, typically around 0–2 °C (32–35.6 °F) where open water remains; spring snowmelt keeps temperatures low, commonly 2–8 °C (35.6–46.4 °F) through April and May. In summer the warmest, broad and slow-flowing stretches can reach roughly 12–18 °C (53.6–64.4 °F) and in sheltered spots occasionally up to about 20 °C (68 °F), while faster, deeper sections remain cooler, often 8–14 °C (46.4–57.2 °F). During autumn temperatures fall back to roughly 6–12 °C (42.8–53.6 °F) before winter freeze.
Swimming in Gudbrandsdalslågen is generally allowed, since most Norwegian rivers are public waters, but whether it is advisable depends on location and season. Cold temperatures outside midsummer and strong currents in many parts present risks of hypothermia and swift downstream movement, and some stretches have boat traffic or variable depths. Safer options are supervised or shallow, slow-flowing areas, and organized beaches or lakes connected to the river system. Local water-quality advisories and conditions should be checked, and appropriate precautions such as swimming with companions, using buoyancy aids, and avoiding fast-flowing channels are recommended.
