*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

The Dender is a river in Belgium that flows through the Flemish region, passing through towns such as Dendermonde, Aalst, and Geraardsbergen before emptying into the Scheldt River. With a length of around 95 kilometers, the Dender is known for its meandering course and relatively slow flow. The water temperature in the Dender varies throughout the year, typically reaching temperatures of 15°C to 22°C (59°F to 72°F) during the summer months, which is suitable for recreational activities like swimming. In the winter, however, the water temperature drops to around 5°C to 8°C (41°F to 46°F), which is not ideal for swimming and could be hazardous.
Swimming in the Dender is possible, particularly during the warmer summer months when the water is warmer and more comfortable. Some sections of the river are more popular for swimming, although there are no designated public swimming areas in most parts. The calm nature of the river also makes it suitable for canoeing, fishing, and enjoying the surrounding nature. However, it’s important to note that the water quality can be affected by runoff from nearby agricultural and urban areas, so it's essential to check local water quality reports before swimming to ensure the water is safe. Additionally, due to the lack of official swimming zones and limited infrastructure, it is advisable to exercise caution when entering the river.
