*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Bayou Des Arc, located in central and eastern Arkansas, is a slow-moving tributary of the White River that flows through forested lowlands and agricultural plains. Its water temperature changes throughout the year according to seasonal air temperatures and rainfall. In winter, the water is generally cool, averaging 6–10 °C (43–50 °F). During spring, the bayou gradually warms to 15–21 °C (59–70 °F) as sunlight increases and water levels rise. By midsummer, temperatures typically reach 25–30 °C (77–86 °F), especially in shallow, calm stretches. In autumn, the water cools again to around 15–20 °C (59–68 °F), following the pattern of Arkansas’s mild-to-hot seasonal climate.
Swimming in Bayou Des Arc is possible but not widely practiced or officially organized. While the water becomes warm enough for swimming in summer, the bayou’s natural conditions—such as soft, muddy bottoms, occasional debris, and limited visibility—make it more suitable for boating, fishing, and wildlife observation. Some local residents may wade or swim in calmer sections during hot weather, but caution is advised due to uneven currents and the presence of aquatic vegetation. The bayou’s natural, undeveloped character makes it better appreciated for its quiet scenery and ecological value than for recreational swimming.
