** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

The Aras River (Turkish: Aras) in Iğdır is fed largely by mountain snowmelt and mountain streams, so its water remains relatively cool year-round. Typical seasonal surface temperature ranges are roughly 0–4 °C (32–39 °F) in winter, 4–10 °C (39–50 °F) in spring, 10–18 °C (50–64 °F) in summer and about 6–12 °C (43–54 °F) in autumn. Local variations occur depending on recent runoff, air temperature, and upstream regulation; shallow, slow-moving reaches can warm more on sunny days, while deeper or faster sections stay colder. Rapid changes after storms or melt events also affect temperatures and visibility.
Swimming opportunities exist in limited, calm stretches during the warmest months but are often impractical or discouraged. Cold water even in summer raises the risk of cold shock and hypothermia, and strong currents, fluctuating water levels and debris make many parts unsafe. In addition, some parts of the river near the international border are subject to access restrictions and official prohibitions for safety and security reasons. Anyone considering entering the water should check local rules, choose well-monitored recreational sites if available, and take precautions such as wearing a wetsuit and avoiding solitary swims.
