*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Wabakimi Lake, located deep within the remote Wabakimi Provincial Park in Northwestern Ontario, is a large, wilderness lake defined by its northern latitude and pristine environment. Due to its size, depth, and isolation, the water remains relatively cool throughout the year. In the deep winter months, the lake is frozen for an extended period, with water temperatures near freezing, typically ranging from 0∘C to 5∘C (32∘F to 41∘F). Even in the peak summer season (July and August), surface temperatures are refreshing rather than warm, generally peaking around 18∘C to 22∘C (64∘F to 72∘F).
Swimming is generally permitted, as the lake is a key feature in a vast wilderness park that primarily supports canoeing and remote camping. However, the park's focus is on self-guided wilderness travel, meaning there are no designated or supervised public beaches on Wabakimi Lake. All swimming is therefore strictly at one's own risk. While many canoeists enjoy brief, refreshing dips, the persistent risk of cold shock and hypothermia outside of the warmest mid-summer period is high. Swimmers must also be mindful of the lake's remoteness from emergency services and adhere to park safety guidelines.
