*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Jackfish Lake, located near North Battleford in west-central Saskatchewan, is a popular recreational lake known for its warm summer water and sandy beaches. Because of its moderate depth and sheltered surroundings, the lake warms quickly once the ice melts in spring. In early spring, following thaw in April or early May, surface temperatures average around 41–46°F (5–8°C). By late May and June, the lake warms steadily to about 55–63°F (13–17°C). During midsummer, from July through August, Jackfish Lake typically reaches 68–75°F (20–24°C) in its shallower bays, while deeper areas remain a few degrees cooler. By late September, as autumn arrives, the lake cools again below 59°F (15°C), marking the end of the main swimming season.
Swimming in Jackfish Lake is allowed and widely enjoyed throughout the summer months. The warm, clear water and gradual sandy shoreline make it one of the more comfortable lakes for swimming in Saskatchewan. The beaches at The Battlefords Provincial Park are particularly popular, offering safe and accessible spots for families and visitors. While the lake remains cool in spring and early summer, it becomes pleasantly warm by mid-July, making it ideal for swimming, boating, and water sports until early September, when cooler weather begins to shorten the season.
