Leicester lies along the River Soar, which flows through the city before joining the River Trent further north. The river’s temperature reflects the mild but changeable climate of the English Midlands, remaining cool for most of the year. In winter, the water typically averages around 4–6 °C (39–43 °F), rising slowly to about 8–10 °C (46–50 °F) in spring.
