*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Karlskoga in Örebro County sits among a landscape of lakes and small rivers, notably Lake Möckeln and various smaller inland waters. Seasonal surface temperatures vary: in summer many sheltered bays and shallow lakes commonly warm to about 15–22 °C (59–72 °F), and on warm spells shallow areas can reach the low 20s °C (around 72–75 °F). Flowing water in rivers is generally cooler, often in the 10–18 °C (50–64 °F) range during summer. Spring temperatures rise from roughly 4–12 °C (39–54 °F) as ice disappears, while autumn sees cooling to around 6–14 °C (43–57 °F). In winter lakes and slow rivers are often ice-covered, with water at or just above freezing around 0 °C (32 °F) beneath the ice.
Swimming is commonly allowed because of Sweden’s public access traditions and because municipalities monitor popular bathing sites for water quality; Karlskoga has designated swimming spots on lakes with beaches and simple facilities. However, swimmers should heed local warnings about algal blooms, poor water quality, or sudden depth changes, and take care in rivers where currents and lower temperatures make conditions more hazardous. Ice swimming does occur but requires safety precautions and safe, managed locations.
