❌ As of today, the minimum water temperature ranges from 41°F (5°C) to 47°F (8°C). This water temperature is still quite low, and swimming in such conditions may only be comfortable for hardened individuals. It is recommended to limit the time spent in the water to avoid hypothermia. For those not accustomed to cold water, it is better to refrain from swimming. However, if you decide to enter the water, it is advisable to wear a warm wetsuit for protection against the cold. It is important to note that these swimming tips and recommendations apply only in good weather. When the air temperature is below 68°F (20°C), and sometimes even below 77°F (25°C), swimming can be unpleasant even with relatively high water temperatures.

** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Varese (Italian: Varese) sits in Lombardy on the shores of Lake Varese, a shallow inland lake whose surface temperature varies markedly through the year. Typical winter temperatures are low, around 4–7 °C (39–45 °F), making the water very cold for casual swimming. In spring the lake warms to roughly 8–15 °C (46–59 °F) as air temperatures rise. Summer is when the lake is at its warmest, commonly 20–26 °C (68–79 °F) and occasionally a degree or two higher during heat spells. In autumn the surface cools again to approximately 12–19 °C (54–66 °F). Because Lake Varese is relatively shallow, seasonal swings can be pronounced and local weather will affect short-term conditions.
Swimming is permitted in Varese primarily at designated bathing areas and beaches managed by the municipality, and these sites are often monitored for safety and water quality during the bathing season. Recreational swimming is most practical in the warmer summer months when temperatures are comfortable and lifeguards are present; outside that period the cold water and potential health risks make prolonged swims inadvisable. Local authorities may temporarily restrict or discourage bathing if water quality issues such as algal blooms or pollution occur, and some zones are reserved for boating or protected for environmental reasons, so swimmers should follow posted rules and advisories.
