*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Bautzen, located in the state of Saxony, eastern Germany, is settled on the banks of the river Spree. Despite being a beautiful town known for its historical significance, water temperature and water-related recreational activities, such as swimming in the Spree river, are not widely discussed or popular. The Spree River flows from Upper Lusatia region through Bautzen towards Berlin, eventually merging with the Havel river. The river plays a significant role in the cityscape, but it typically has a lower temperature year-round, as Germany is known for its overall temperate seasonal climate.
In terms of water temperature, the Spree, as with many rivers in Germany, has its warmest temperatures during the summer months, typically ranging between 17-20°C (63-68°F). However, this is subject to change depending on weather conditions and environmental factors. Despite these decent temperatures, swimming in the Spree river, particularly through the town of Bautzen, is not commonly practiced. Whilst the water quality is generally good, the river is primarily used for transportation, water supply and irrigation, rather than recreational activities. Furthermore, potential hazards such as currents, submerged objects, and boat traffic make it primarily unsuitable and potentially dangerous for swimming activities.
