*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Saint-Lô, located in the Normandy region of France, sits on the banks of the Vire River, which flows through the city. The Vire River, like many rivers in the region, has water temperatures that fluctuate with the seasons. In the colder months, from November through February, the river's water temperature tends to be quite low, averaging around 5°C to 7°C (41°F to 45°F), which makes swimming uncomfortable and unsafe. As the temperatures rise in the spring and summer, the river warms up to around 14°C to 18°C (57°F to 64°F). These temperatures are more tolerable for some water activities, but the river’s relatively fast current and occasional pollution make swimming a less common and less recommended activity.
For recreational swimming, locals tend to prefer swimming pools or designated swimming areas where water quality is more controlled. The Vire River itself, although scenic, is not widely used for swimming due to the fast-moving water, occasional debris, and limited water clarity. Kayaking, canoeing, and fishing are popular activities on the river, and many people enjoy the views along the riverbanks for walking, cycling, or relaxing in nature.
