*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
The Kiiminkijoki River, flowing through the Kiiminki area of North Ostrobothnia, is an unharnessed river known for its natural beauty and good water quality, making it a popular spot for outdoor activities. Swimming is generally permitted along accessible riverbanks and designated swimming spots, a right guaranteed by Finland's Everyman’s Rights. Swimmers should exercise caution due to the river’s natural flow and currents, particularly near any rapids or constricted areas. Public beaches provide the safest and most monitored environment for bathing.
The water temperature in the Kiiminkijoki River is characteristic of a northern river system, with a long period of cold temperatures. From approximately November to May, the river is typically frozen or near-freezing, with the water temperature remaining consistently between 0∘C and 4∘C. The ideal time for comfortable swimming is limited to a brief window in mid-summer, generally July. During this peak period, the surface water in calmer, sun-exposed sections can warm up to an approximate range of 17∘C to 21∘C. Outside of the peak summer, the water remains very cool, mainly attracting enthusiasts of cold-water swimming.
