** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

The Vilaine River flows through Brittany in northwestern France, passing through cities such as Rennes and Redon before reaching the Atlantic Ocean near La Roche-Bernard. During summer, water temperatures in the Vilaine generally range between 16°C and 22°C (61°F and 72°F), depending on the section and the weather conditions. This mild range makes the river suitable for recreational activities, though it is not as commonly used for swimming as other rivers due to occasional currents and boat traffic, especially in the downstream sections.
Swimming in the Vilaine is possible in certain areas, especially upstream and away from urban centers. Near Rennes, for instance, there are designated places for water sports and bathing. In other parts, like Redon and La Roche-Bernard, the riverbanks are popular for picnics, fishing, and kayaking rather than swimming. Although swimming is allowed in specific spots, the water quality is closely monitored to ensure safe conditions for bathers during the warmer months.
