*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Manuels River, located in Conception Bay South on the Avalon Peninsula of Newfoundland and Labrador, is a small, clear freshwater river known for its geological significance and natural beauty. Because it flows through a relatively cool coastal region, the river’s water temperature remains on the colder side for most of the year. In early spring, after snowmelt begins, the river averages around 37–43°F (3–6°C). By late May and June, surface temperatures rise slightly to about 48–55°F (9–13°C). During midsummer, from July through August, the warmest period of the year, the water may reach 59–64°F (15–18°C) in shallow, sunny sections, though shaded or faster-moving parts stay cooler. As autumn arrives, temperatures drop again below 52°F (11°C) by late September.
Swimming in Manuels River is technically allowed but not common due to its cold water and rocky terrain. The river is shallow and swift in many sections, making it better suited for wading or relaxing along the banks rather than full swimming. Visitors typically enjoy hiking the scenic trails and viewing waterfalls rather than entering the water for extended periods. On warm summer days, brief dips in calm pools can be refreshing, but the cool temperature and uneven riverbed make prolonged swimming less comfortable.
