Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
The Loimijoki River, flowing through the Kanta-Häme region, is a moderate Finnish watercourse that historically has been utilized for various purposes, including bathing. Swimming is generally permitted along accessible, slow-flowing sections of the river, governed by Everyman’s Rights. This Finnish principle allows the public the right to access and use waterways for recreation, provided safe practices are followed and privacy is respected. However, swimmers must exercise caution regarding currents and varying depths typical of a river system.
As a river in Southern Finland, the Loimijoki's water temperature changes quickly with the seasons and weather. During winter, from roughly December to April, sections of the river may freeze, or the water will remain near freezing, stabilizing between 0∘C and 4∘C. The optimal period for comfortable swimming is brief, mainly concentrated in July and early August. In these summer months, the water temperature in calmer stretches typically warms up to a pleasant range of 18∘C to 22∘C. Outside of this summer peak, the water quickly becomes too cool for casual bathing.
