** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

The Kamchiya River (Камчия) in northeastern Bulgaria flows from the Balkan Mountains to the Black Sea and passes through a large, protected floodplain. Water temperatures vary strongly with the seasons. In winter the river can cool to around 0–6 °C (32–43 °F), while spring brings a gradual rise to roughly 5–15 °C (41–59 °F). Summer surface temperatures commonly reach 18–26 °C (64–79 °F) in many stretches, with the warmest readings near slow-moving backwaters and the estuary. In autumn the river typically cools again to about 10–20 °C (50–68 °F). Local microclimates, depth, flow rate and recent weather can shift these values by a few degrees.
Swimming is possible in many non-protected parts of the river and in calmer oxbow lakes that form along its course, and people frequently bathe near the estuary in summer when temperatures are highest. However, significant sections of the Kamchiya floodplain are part of a biosphere reserve where access and recreational use may be restricted to protect habitats and nesting birds. Safety considerations—such as currents near the mouth, submerged debris, variable water quality after rainfall and limited lifeguard cover—mean that swimming is advisable only where allowed and where conditions are known to be safe.
