*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

The Beaver River, flowing through northeastern Alberta toward Saskatchewan, is a slow-moving prairie river that experiences noticeable seasonal changes in water temperature. In early spring, as snow and ice begin to melt, the water remains cold, averaging around 37–43°F (3–6°C). By late May and June, as air temperatures rise, the river warms to approximately 50–59°F (10–15°C). During midsummer, from July through August, the Beaver River reaches its warmest period, with surface temperatures often between 63–70°F (17–21°C) in shallower stretches where sunlight can heat the water. In early autumn, the temperature gradually drops again, returning to below 55°F (13°C) by late September as cooler weather sets in.
Swimming in the Beaver River is possible and occasionally enjoyed in calm, accessible sections, but it is not a common recreational activity. The water can become pleasantly mild in midsummer, yet the river’s silty bottom, variable flow, and limited beach areas make it less ideal for regular swimming. Most residents prefer to visit nearby lakes or reservoirs, which provide cleaner and safer swimming conditions. Those who do swim in the river typically choose shallow, slow-moving spots during warm weather. Overall, the Beaver River offers more opportunities for canoeing, fishing, and wildlife observation than for extended swimming.
